Today's obituaries Mary Goga Mary Goga, 349 Mesabi St., Sharon, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday (12-10-01) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 83. Obituary information was incomplete.
GOGA Patrick L. Henry Former Hubbard man was retired Sharon Steel manager ORRVILLE, Ohio -- Patrick L. Henry, 411 Coventry Court, Orrville, formerly of Grandview Avenue, Hubbard, passed away Sunday evening (12-9-01) in Dunlap Memorial Hospital. He was 94. Mr. Henry was born Feb. 1, 1907, in Chattanooga, Tenn., a son of John H. and Rebecca E. Williams Henry. He came to Youngstown in 1915, moved to Hubbard in 1933 and moved to Orrville in 2000. Mr. Henry was an industrial engineer and also held various management staff positions while working at the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant for 45 years, retiring in 1970. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hubbard; a life member of Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 55, Girard/Youngstown Senior Member; the Institute of Industrial Engineers; and Sharon Steel Management Club. His wife, Lucille A. Wurzel Henry, whom he married Dec. 4, 1933, died Dec. 11, 1991. Mr. Henry leaves a son, Patrick J. Henry, Burr Ridge, Ill.; a daughter, Roxanne Marcum, Orrville; a sister, Louise Zimmerman, Crosby, Texas; and six grandchildren, Patrick J. Henry Jr., Kathleen Schroeder, Matthew P. Henry, Michael Alan Marcum, Jonathan Scott Marcum and Kelly B. Marcum; and one great-granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Henry. Mr. Henry was preceded in death by four brothers, John Henry Jr., Thomas J. Henry, William R. Henry and an infant brother, James W. Henry; and one sister, Susette Henry.
HENRY Dorothy M. Brainard Rice OBERLIN, Ohio -- Dorothy M. Brainard Rice, Oberlin, formerly of 380 Rexford Drive, Hermitage, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday (12-10-01) in Welcome Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was 91. Obituary information was incomplete.
RICE Madge Faller Homemaker was member of Brookfield church, groups Madge Faller of 6867 Wood St., Brookfield, died at 1:50 p.m. Monday (12-10-01) in Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, Ohio. She was 95. Mrs. Faller was born Sept. 2, 1906, in Sandy Creek Township, a daughter of Finley S. and Elda Osborn Dick. She was a homemaker and a member of Brookfield Christian Church, Brookfield Fireman's Auxiliary and Brook Village Seniors. Her husband, Frank F. Faller, whom she married Nov. 8, 1928, died May 13, 1978. Survivors include: three sons, Howard F. Faller, Vienna; Glenn C. Faller, Poland, Ohio; and Lee E. Faller, Brookfield; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Faller was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters. FALLER Mary Annabelle Hewitt Retired K-Mart personnel supervisor collected chickens
Mary Annabelle Hewitt of 93 Hewitt Road, West Middlesex, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family at 2:20 p.m. Sunday (12-9-01) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, following a brief illness. She was 82. Mary was born July 29, 1919, in Sharpsville to Bert and Martha Hilkey Rummel. She graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1937. Mrs. Hewitt retired in 1989 after 35 faithful years of service as a regional personnel supervisor for K-Mart. She was an avid collector of chickens of all kinds. She had articles written about her collection and put on programs for organizations, telling many interesting stories about her collection of chickens, too numerous to even count. She was a wonderful, caring, giving and active person who enjoyed traveling. Her most recent trips were to Alaska with family and friends in June and to Minnesota with family in August. She also enjoyed flea marketing, reading, playing cards with friends and playing bingo; baby-sitting her grandchildren, who gave her so much joy; and spending time with her family. Mrs. Hewitt was a member of the West Middlesex Woman's Club; the Forget-Me-Not Garden Club; Endeavor Rebekah Lodge 367, Sharpsville; the Ladies Auxiliary unit of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6233; and Degree of Honor Chapter 7, both West Middlesex; and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 156, Farrell. She was also a lifetime member of the former Grace Reformed Church, Sharpsville. Her husband, James LeRoy Hewitt, whom she married Aug. 16, 1940, preceded her in death on April 15, 1966. Surviving are: two children, her son, William Roy Hewitt and his wife, Darlene, Tidioute, Pa.; and her daughter, Sandra Lee Hummell and her husband Terrence, West Middlesex; three brothers, Gilbert Lozier and his wife Virginia, New Wilmington; Donald Lozier and his wife Sara, East Sparta, Ohio; and Raymond Lozier and his wife Betty, Sharpsville. Also surviving are: seven grandchildren, Mary Lou Kirk and her husband Shawn, Dale Hutchison, Danie Lynn Hewitt, Candace Wall, Billie Hewitt, Tamara Blanchard and Michelle Hewitt; and nine great-grandchildren, Billy McKee, Katlyn McKee, Heather Hutchison, Danielle Hutchison, Justin Hutchison, Jerod Hutchison, Arron Hutchison, Alexis Blanchard and Ashley Blanchard; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her very much. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Ezra Lozier; her brother, Blaine Rummel; and her sister, Dorothy Rummel Thompson. HEWITT Betty Riddle Imbrie Retired teacher taught in Sharpsville, Mercer schools PHOENIX -- Betty Riddle Imbrie, Phoenix, formerly of Sharpsville, died at 8 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in her home in Phoenix, where she lived for many years. She was 83. Mrs. Imbrie was born April 10, 1918, in Slippery Rock to James and Maude Heasley Riddle. She graduated from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. Betty was a retired Pennsylvania teacher, having taught for many years in Sharpsville and, earlier in her career, at Mercer Elementary School. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Sharpsville. Betty enjoyed reading, counted cross-stitch and corresponding with her many friends. She is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Donald Bender, Phoenix; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Witt and her husband Edwin, Phoenix; and Susan Bender, Portland, Ore.; and one great-granddaughter, Katherine Witt, Phoenix. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clyde and Donald Riddle; and one sister, Jane Hulihan. Funeral services are pending, to be held in Sharpsville after the holiday season. Jacqueline Uberti Bennett Notre Dame church member was technician at UPMC A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday for Jacqueline Uberti Bennett, 2400 Garden Way, Hermitage, formerly of Pittsburgh. She passed away at 5:20 a.m. Monday (12-10-01) in The Overlook nursing home, New Wilmington, following a brief illness. She was 60. Mrs. Bennett was born May 28, 1941, in Philadelphia, a daughter of Anthony and Antoinette Vinciquerra Tilotta. A 1959 alumna of St. Maria Goretti in Philadelphia, she was a histology technician at the Histology Laboratory at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Mrs. Bennett was a member of Church of Notre Dame in Hermitage. Her husband, Robert Bennett of Pittsburgh, whom she married May 29, 1993, survives in the Ingram area of Pittsburgh. Also surviving are: a former husband, Fredrick Uberti, New Wilmington; one daughter, Mrs. Anthony (Donna) DeJulia, Sharon; two sons, Dr. Edward J. Uberti; and Anthony F. Uberti, both Hermitage; a brother, Vito Tilotta, Philadelphia; and four grandchildren, Ashley Lauren and Gregory Edward Uberti; and Brittani Nicole and Anthony Michael Uberti. BENNETT Florence Pearson Black Former Jackson Center homemaker had sister here MATTHEWS, N.C. -- Florence Pearson Black, 600 Fullwood Lane, Matthews, formerly of Jackson Center, died Friday morning, Dec. 7, 2001, in Carrington Place after an extended illness. She was 95. Mrs. Black was born March 30, 1906, in Jackson Center to William G. and Caroline Amos Pearson. She graduated from Mercer High School in 1924. A homemaker, Mrs. Black moved to Charlotte, N.C., in 1962 where she was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She also belonged to Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 180 in Mercer. Her husband, Quincy Gordon Black, whom she married April 3, 1926, died Feb. 13, 1987. Surviving are: a daughter, Helen B. High; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Black, both Charlotte; one sister, Evelyn, wife of Paul Schosser, Stoneboro; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Charles E. Black; two sisters, Mildred Everhart and Bertha McCauslin; and one brother, Norman Pearson. SNODGRASS Guy J. DelliQuadri WWII Navy vet, Sharon Steel retiree had son living here NEW CASTLE -- Guy J. DelliQuadri, 201 Sumner Ave., New Castle, died Monday afternoon (12-10-01) in St. Francis Hospital. He was 80. Mr. DelliQuadri was born March 21, 1921, in New Castle to Michael and Angelina Diorio DelliQuadri. He retired in 1984 from the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant, where he was a labor leader in the Hot Strip Mill. A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. DelliQuadri served during World War II in the South Pacific Campaign. He attended St. Vitus Church in New Castle. His wife, the former Eleanor Cannone, whom he married in 1949, died in October 1968. Surviving are: two sons, Michael P. DelliQuadri, Hermitage; and Joseph DelliQuadri, Brookville, Pa.; four brothers, Francis and Edward DelliQuadri, both New Castle; Phillip DelliQuadri, Oroville, Calif.; and Lawrence DelliQuadri, Croton-on-the-Hudson, N.Y.; two sisters, Lena DelliQuadri and Merceda Gesue, both New Castle; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Besides his wife, Mr. DelliQuadri was preceded in death by his parents.
DELLIQUADRI David Keith Richards '70 Sharon High grad, former Farrell teacher, was R.I. cook NEWPORT, R.I. -- A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family for David Keith Richards, 23 Warner Street, Newport, R.I., formerly of Hermitage. He died Thursday morning (12-6-01) in his home. He was 49. Mr. Richards was born Aug. 19, 1952, in Sharon to David and Janet Brewington Richards. A 1970 alumnus of Sharon High School, he graduated in 1974 from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where he participated on the school's swim team. Mr. Richards was a cook in a deli in Newport and was a former English teacher in Farrell Area School System. He was also a former life guard at the F. H. Buhl Club and a former member of Ruth African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, both Sharon. Surviving are: his father and his stepmother, Helen E. Richards, Hermitage; two brothers, Charles Glenn Richards, Sumner, Wash.; and Charles Michael Burrells, Los Angeles; and several aunts, uncles and cousins, including his favorite cousin, Michelle Lamar Richards, also Los Angeles. Mr. Richards was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.
RICHARDS Ruth L. Billick Homemaker formerly of GC was active in churches Ruth L. Billick of Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, died Friday (12-7-01) following a lifetime of service to her family, friends, and church. She was 85. She was born April 1, 1916, to the late Henry and Annie Hofmeister Gedekoh. The Billick family lived 19 years in the Grove City area, four years in the Butler area and more than 30 years in Rostraver Township. Mrs. Billick was an outstanding seamstress and homemaker, an avid follower of all Pittsburgh sports teams, and a basketball player for Elizabeth High School. Her religion and her family played the most prominent roles in her life. She was a member of the Roundhill Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir and led home Bible studies. She was a past member of the Grove City Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday school, was a missionary committee president and sang in the choir. Surviving are: her husband, Wayne A. Billick, a retired area manager for Agway, Inc.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Pam Billick, Beaumont, Texas; and David and Rachel Billick, Tarentum. Dean was a former associate athletic director at the University of Pittsburgh, where he was employed for 27 years; and also was formerly employed by The Herald, Sharon. David has been a vice president of Mellon Financial Corp. for the past six years. Also surviving are: two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Anne and Gary Sansom, Mercer; and Janice and Terry McGhee, Beaver Falls. Mary Anne is a teacher in the Laurel School District and her husband, Gary, who is pastor of Zelienople Church of the Nazarene, teaches in the Mercer Area School District. Janice is a job coach for Beaver County Rehabilitation Center. Also surviving are: a sister, Sara Craig, Elizabeth Township; and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
