SANDY LAKE TOWNSHIP

Driver's info was phony, police say

State police said a Jackson Center motorist was charged Monday with drunken driving and six traffic offenses after a Dec. 16 accident near Lakeview High School.

Vicki L. Say, 42, Jackson Center, was northbound on U.S. Route 62 at about 11 p.m when she turned left into the path of a car driven by Brett M. Oberman, 19, Stoneboro, police said.

When Oberman asked for identification, Ms. Say gave a false name and telephone number, then got in her car and took off, police said. Oberman got her license plate number and called police.

Police said they found her a short time later in her car in the driveway of her residence. She was arrested and her blood alcohol level was tested and found to be 0.24 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.1 percent, police said.

Besides drunken driving, Ms. Say was also charged with failure to notify police of an accident, failure to give information at the scene of an accident, giving false reports to a police officer, making an improper left turn, failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to have proper lights on her vehicle, police said.

Her preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 23 before District Justice Lawrence T. Silvis, Worth Township.
