District Justice Ruth M. French, Mercer, held all charges for court. The incident occurred Dec. 9, police said.

Wednesday, Pumphrey stipulated that at a preliminary hearing that if witnesses were called Shenango Township police would be able to implicate him in the beating case.

District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, held for court charges of aggravated and simple assault and reckless endangerment.

Pumphrey was accused of beating Lincoln J. Rombold, 18, on Dec. 7 in the Oakleaf Estates mobile home park.

Pumphrey hit Rombold in the face with the wooden bat, and kicked, punched and choked him, police said.

Witnesses said Pumphrey yelled during the attack about Rombold stealing $450 and checks from Pumphrey's mother, police said.
