The ski-masked man walked into the shop at 10:43 p.m., police said. A female clerk saw him and left the shop, police said. She did not see if he had a weapon, police said.

The man jumped over the counter and tried unsuccessfully to steal the shop's receipts; he was unable to open the cash register, police said, adding he had left before they arrived.
