FARRELL

'Looking for a 20,' cops find a suspect

Undercover state police troopers have had little trouble finding people on George Street in Farrell willing to sell them crack cocaine.

On Oct. 29, a trooper told James Lowe, 18, of 817 Fruit Ave., Farrell, that he was "looking for a 20," meaning a $20 rock of crack cocaine. Lowe whipped out a bag of crack, but before the deal could be completed, two more men came to the car, police said.

When told that the trooper was looking for a 20, the men also whipped out bags of crack, police said.

"Tell those guys to get out of here," Lowe told the trooper, who allowed Lowe into his car so they could make the transaction farther up George at 4:52 p.m.

The case was the first of four for which Lowe was arrested at 12:53 this morning at home, Southwest Mercer County Regional police said.

He also is charged with selling a rock of cocaine for $20 at 4:27 p.m. Nov. 1 at Fruit and George, a rock of what turned out to be counterfeit crack a minute later on George, and two rocks for $140 at 2:20 p.m. Dec. 3 at Wallis Avenue and George, police said.

In the last incident, a boy who was with Lowe grabbed the bag of crack from the trooper after the money had changed hands, and both ran east on George, police said.

Lowe is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and theft, three counts of delivery of crack, two counts each of possession of crack and possession of counterfeit crack, and one charge each of delivery of counterfeit crack and theft, police said.
