Water company says problem resolved
Water from Consumers Pennsylvania Water Co. Shenango Valley Division has had a "musky'' taste and odor, a company executive acknowledged Tuesday, but changes made at the Sharon water-treatment plant have resolved the problem, he said.
In the last three or four weeks customers complained about the odor, said Ken Baumann, vice president of the utility. The taste and odor posed no public health hazard and has been minimized by changing the treatment process, he said.
Baumann said he believed the problem was caused by a combination of low water levels and low temperatures.
"As far as we can tell, the water is leaving the plant fine,'' he said.
