SANDY LAKE TOWNSHIP

Police seek helpful driver after robbery

State police are seeking a motorist who helped a young gas station attendant on Tuesday after a robber locked him inside.

At 8:30 p.m., a man with a knife walked into McQuiston's gas station on U.S. Route 62 in Sandy Lake Township and demanded all the cash, police said.

After the robber took $192, he ordered the juvenile attendant to get under the desk. When the robber left, he blocked the door from outside, police said.

The robber was 6 feet tall and of medium build. He wore a light tan jacket, blue jeans, a bright orange ski mask and sheepskin gloves, police said.

A few minutes after the robber left, a motorist who stopped for gas helped the attendant get out, police said.

The motorist is asked to contact police at (724) 662-6162.
