SANDY LAKE TOWNSHIP

Officials probe deadly shed fire

The owner of Love's Gun Shop and Love's Machine and Tool Co. in Sandy Lake Township died in a Wednesday afternoon fire at his business.

The cause of the 1:15 p.m. blaze that took the life of Robert J. Love, 72, remained under investigation this morning by Sandy Lake Township volunteer firefighters and state police.

Police said Love entered the shop/garage structure behind his home at 6111 Sandy Lake-Polk Road, more commonly known as U.S. Route 62, apparently while it was on fire, and was unable to escape. He was found inside his truck in the garage, police said.

State Police Cpl. Joseph Wolinsky, who is investigating the fire, said an autopsy would be performed to determine Love's exact cause of death. Sandy Lake fire officials were unavailable for comment this morning.
