WEST SALEM TOWNSHIP

Father burned trying to save daughter from trailer is still in critical condition

A West Salem Township man badly burned trying to rescue his 3-year-old daughter from a mobile home fire is still in critical condition at a PIttsburgh hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Scott Randall, who underwent surgery the same day as the Dec. 19 fire, is being treated at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Randall's mother, Sandra Conover-Wade, said last month her son was severely burned over 80 to 90 percent of his body.

Randall was trying to rescue his daughter, Samantha Lynn Randall, from the family's burning mobile home in Millero-Palm Mobile Home Park, but Samantha died as a result of the fire. Her mother, Jane McKinney, and 1 1/2-year-old brother, Sean Michael Randall, escaped unharmed.

A wood-burning stove sparked the fire, which destroyed the trailer and its contents.
