SHENANGO VALLEY

Two facing charges of sex with minors

Two Shenango Valley men charged with having sex with girls will be facing the charges in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

While the most serious charge against Robert D. Shannonhouse, 31, of 203 George St., Farrell -- rape -- was dismissed by District Justice Henry J. Russo, Shannonhouse still will face other charges.

Russo held for court charges of one count each of statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors, four counts of aggravated indecent assault and two counts of indecent assault.

Aside from rape, Russo also dismissed charges of sexual assault, unlawful restraint and false imprisonment.

Shannonhouse had sex with a 15-year-old girl in June or July in the 1100-1200 block alley between Negley and Bond streets in Farrell, police said.

Aaron J. Flowers, 19, of 6161 Seneca Road, South Pymatuning Township, was charged with two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and indecent assault and one count of sexual contact with a minor.

Flowers had sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl Aug. 1 in a parking lot in the 3800 block of East State Street, Hermitage, police said. The pair met in an Internet chat room, police said.

The girl said she told Flowers she was 11, police said. Flowers claimed she told him she was 17, police said.

Russo heard Flowers' case Jan. 2 and Shannonhouse's case Jan. 4.

Shannonhouse was released after posting $25,000 bond. Flowers was released on his own recognizance.
