Some local schools will get money
Thirteen local schools have received award money for their students' performances on the annual Pennsylvania State System of Assessment test.
Students in fifth, eighth and 11th grades were given the PSSAs in April. The students were tested in reading and math. The 11th-graders were also given a writing test.
Some schools received the School Performance Funding Improvement Awards for their students' test scores. The monetary awards are given to schools in which students improved their baseline scores by 50 points or more. Baseline scores are established through past performances by that school, according to the state Department of Education Web site.
