WEST SALEM TOWNSHIP

Condition of burned dad unchanged

Nearly a month after he braved fire to try to save his daughter, Scott Randall remains hospitalized in critical condition, a West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, spokeswoman said this morning.

Randall was burned over 80 percent to 90 percent of his body when he went back into his burning West Salem Township mobile home the morning of Dec. 19 in a failed attempted to rescue his 3-year-old daughter, Samantha Lynn Randall.

Samantha died in the fire at the family's mobile home at Lot 26 Millero-Palm Mobile Home Park, 326 Vernon Road.

Samantha's mother, Jane McKinney with her 1 1/2-year-old son Sean Michael Randall, and Randall escaped the burning mobile home, but Samantha did not.

A problem with a wood burning stove sparked the blaze, according to state police fire marshal Robert Ryhal.
