LIBERTY TOWNSHIP

School bus-car crash kills woman

A woman was killed in a crash involving a school bus carrying Grove City Area School District students and a car at 7 a.m. today on state Route 258 in Liberty Township, police said.

The name of the woman, who was driving the car, was not released by authorities this morning.

Grove City Superintendent Dr. Robert Post said nine children were on the bus when it was hit from behind.

They were checked by paramedics at the scene between Jarvis and Brent roads; none were hurt. The children were released to their parents, Post said.

Several of the children had returned to school by 10 a.m., Post said.

Post said the bus driver "did a wonderful job of keeping the situation under control" until authorities arrived, keeping the children on the bus calm.

Post said the bus was hit from behind while it was moving.
