A Mercer County Common Pleas Court jury Friday found a mother guilty of hitting her daughter's teacher in his chest in a Sharpsville school.

Victoria M. Morrison, 32, of 1027 Ridge Ave., Sharpsville, was found guilty of all charges: aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.

The jury deliberated four hours Friday, breaking four times to ask Judge Francis J. Fornelli five questions and making one request.

The jury found Mrs. Morrison guilty of repeatedly hitting her daughter's teacher, Lewis Rosa, in the doorway of his Sharpsville Middle School classroom.

The 58-year-old Rosa, who has since retired, was treated after the assault at the hospital at Sharon Regional Health System. Rosa said his chest was sensitive due to a previous heart surgery.

Mrs. Morrison went to the school that day because her daughter called to be taken home, according to testimony. Rosa said he had reminded the sixth-grader about the policy against passing notes after he discovered she passed a note with derogatory comments about him.

Rosa, two school administrators and students testified that Mrs. Morrison hit the teacher. However, Mrs. Morrison, who testified in her defense, claimed she never touched him.

The judge scheduled sentencing for March 28. The maximum sentence she could receive is 5 to 10 years in prison, said Assistant District Attorney Neal McEwen.

Mrs. Morrison was released on her own recognizance after her conviction.
