Artesian well's donation box raidedAn undetermined amount of donated cash was stolen last week from a locked donation box at Line and Fredonia roads in Jefferson Township, Jefferson-Clark Regional police Chief Jeff Lockard said.
Donations left in the box -- locked with a padlock and usually emptied every Saturday -- go toward maintaining an artesian well at the intersection, police said.
The padlock was smashed between Jan. 20 and Friday, police said.
The owner of the well told police he would shut off the well if someone continues to raid the box.
