Phenomenal women invited to workshop

Phenomenal women in the area are being called to experience "The Journey: The Point of Departure."

Minority Health Advocacy Committee and Sharon Regional Health System's Woman's Center will sponsor The Phenomenal Woman workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 23 in First United Methodist Church, 237 Silver St., Sharon. The workshop will be presented by Dr. Diane M. Mrava, a local obstetrician and gynecologist, and Yolanda Mazyck, director of the neighborhood-based Family Intervention Center.

Guest speaker is Sadie Reid-Benham of Farrell. A semi-retired child-care consultant who worked in Santa Ana, Calif., Mrs. Reid-Benham is involved with Community Missionary Baptist Church, Farrell Area School District's Parent Teacher Organization, the Mercer County Foster Parents Association and a grandparents support group, according to a news release from Minority Health.

The day will consist of three workshops "devoted to creating an environment conducive to personal growth," the release said.

A registration fee of $12 includes continental breakfast, a luncheon, a tote bag and door prizes. Keystone Blind Association will screen participants for glaucoma and Lori Hadden will massage hands.

To register call Minority Health at (724) 981-3856, (724) 983-5518 or (800) 346-7997.
