School board hopefuls can applyMercer County Common Pleas Court is accepting applications from Farrell and Wheatland registered voters who would like to be appointed to a vacant school board seat.
Hopefuls are to submit a letter of application, resume and telephone number by 4 p.m. Feb. 21 to court administrator Peter A. Morin at Room 205, Mercer County Courthouse, North Diamond Street, Mercer 16137.
Following the deadline, the three Common Pleas Court judges will schedule interviews. Morin said he hopes that will happen the week of the 25th.
The appointment will last until the first Monday of December 2003.
The vacancy was created by the death of Rose Marie Branca.
Farrell school board members deadlocked on two candidates to replace her, and the district petitioned the court to choose Mrs. Branca's replacement.
