Frances Ethel Bates Novak Frances Ethel Bates Novak, formerly of 875 Thomas Ave., Sharon, died at 4:28 a.m. today (2-8-02) in O'Brien Memorial Nursing Home, Masury. She was 86. Obituary information was incomplete.
NOVAK Violet E. Guynn ESPYVILLE, Pa. -- Violet E. Guynn, 1815 Pine Road, Espyville, died late Thursday evening (2-7-02) in her home. She was 93. Obituary information was incomplete.
GUYNN Edward 'Ted' Joseph Pryts Sr. Brookfield man retired from Sharon Steel, enjoyed fishing Edward "Ted" Joseph Pryts Sr. of 754 Valley View Road in Brookfield Township, passed away at 12:44 a.m. Thursday morning (2-7-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. He was 60. Mr. Pryts was born Nov. 17, 1941, in Sharon, a son of Wilber Pete and Margaret Walsh Pryts. A lifelong area resident, he was a 1959 alumnus of Sharon High School and studied metallurgy at the Shenango campus of Pennsylvania State University in Sharon. Mr. Pryts retired in the late 1980s from the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant, where he was a slitter machine operator in the company's Finishing Division B Department. He also worked with his father's landscaping business for several years doing landscaping throughout the Shenango Valley. Mr. Pryts enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His wife, the former Rosalie T. Bencivengo, whom he married on Jan. 10, 1959, survives at home. He also leaves: one daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Debra L.) Graham, Akron; one son, Edward Pryts Jr. and his wife Stacia, Hermitage; and three sisters, Mrs. James "Waxy" (Margaret "Peggy") Cave, Sharon; Mrs. Lou (Mary Lou) Sakony, Sharon; and Judy Kratko, also Sharon. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jacqueline N. and Kathleen R. Graham; and Calvin E. and Andrew J. Pryts. Mr. Pryts was preceded in death by his parents; and his two brothers, Thomas and Jerry Pryts.
PRYTS Charles Ruffo Charles Ruffo, 816 Wheatland Road, Shenango Township, died at 10 p.m. Thursday (2-7-02) in UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh, after a short illness. He was 65. Obituary information was incomplete.
RUFFO Cora L. Yaffee Ex-Sharon homemaker had belonged to Masury U.M. PITTSBURGH -- Cora L. Yaffee of 5360 Saltsburg Road, Verona, Pa., formerly of Sharon, died at 6 a.m. Thursday (2-7-02) in Mercy Hospital following an extended illness. She was 67. Mrs. Yaffee was born Feb. 26, 1934, in Masury, a daughter of Admiral D. and Alfreda Parker Notman. She was a homemaker and former member of Masury United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. Her husband, Isidor J. Yaffee, whom she married July 25, 1953, died Aug. 27, 1988. Survivors include: one son, Mark Yaffee, Sharon; four daughters, Cheryl Baniel, Greenville; Loretta Ruffo, Columbus, Ohio; Cathy Ammon, Pittsburgh; and Paula Tancer, Canfield, Ohio; one sister, Margaret "Peggy" Bradley, Cortland; and five grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Yaffee was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Delores Myers and Judy Notman.
YAFFEE Rose M. Zarella Longtime hairdresser owned beauty shop, was avid artist A funeral Mass will be held Monday for Rose M. Zarella, a resident of John XXIII Home in Hermitage, formerly of 169 Case Ave. in Sharon. She passed away at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, in John XXIII Home. She was 91. Born Feb. 18, 1910, in Farrell, Miss Zarella was a daughter of the late Frank and Rosemarie Carbonare Zarella. She attended Farrell schools and graduated from beauty school in Pittsburgh. A self-employed hairdresser for more than 50 years, she owned and operated the former Rose's Beauty Shop, first in Farrell and later in Sharon. Rose was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Sharon. She was an avid artist who enjoyed painting and drawing. Rose had an extraordinary sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. She was also a talented and entertaining babysitter for her large hosts of nieces and nephews. Survivors include: three sisters, Angela Cummings and Josephine Zarella, both John XXIII Home; and Nellie Polite, Youngstown. In addition to her parents, Miss Zarella was preceded in death by one brother, Dominic F. Zarella; and four sisters, Antoinette Wiesen; and Geraldine, Elizabeth and Mary Zarella. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
ZARELLA James W. Jackson Sharon native, WWII veteran was assistant plant foreman VENICE, Fla. -- James W. Jackson, Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Sharon, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, in I.H.S. of Venice. He was 83. Mr. Jackson was born June 20, 1918, in Sharon to James A. Jackson and Harriett E. Webb Jackson. He was an assistant foreman for an electrical manufacturing company. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Jackson had resided in the Port Charlotte area since 1989, moving there from Mesa, Ariz. Surviving are: his wife of 30 years, the former Jean G. Fyffe; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy and James Sands, Port Charlotte.
