No PIAA ruling on Farrell appealThe Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association failed to announce a ruling Friday on the appeal from Farrell High School regarding a Western Pennsylvania Inter-Athletic League decision to force the school to forfeit every game in which senior Iren Rainey played. WPIAL had ruled the transfer student to be ineligible to compete in basketball.
After the hearing held Friday in Mechanicsburg, Melissa Mertz, PIAA assistant executive director, said the state's ruling prep sports body would contact Farrell Monday morning with its decision, before it is announced to media outlets.
