Lowe's drug charges held for court
Charges filed against a Farrell man accused in four cases of selling crack cocaine or a counterfeit version to undercover state troopers were held for court.
James "Chico" Lowe Jr., 18, of 817 Fruit Ave., Farrell, was charged with three counts delivery of crack, two counts each possession of crack and possession of counterfeit crack, and one count each of delivery of counterfeit crack, theft, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit theft.
District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, held to court all charges at a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
Police, working in Farrell, said Lowe sold a rock of crack for $20 at 4:52 p.m. Oct. 29 on George Street; a rock of crack for $20 at 4:27 p.m. Nov. 1 at Fruit Avenue and George; a rock of counterfeit crack for $20 at 4:28 p.m. Nov. 1 on George; and two rocks of counterfeit crack for $140 at 2:20 p.m. Dec. 3 at Wallis Avenue and George.
In the last incident, a boy who was with Lowe grabbed the substance from the trooper after the money had exchanged hands, and both ran away, police said.
Lowe was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $5,000 bond.
