Robbins plans re-election announcement bus tour

State Sen. Robert D. "Bob" Robbins, Salem Township, will launch his re-election campaign Thursday with a district-wide bus tour.

The tour will include Mercer County stops at the Greenville Area Railroad Museum at 8:30 a.m. and the Hermitage Municipal Building at 4 p.m.

Under reapportionment legislation passed recently in Harrisburg, the 50th District includes all of Mercer and Crawford counties and parts of Lawrence and Butler counties. For the past decade, the district has included a portion of Erie County but none of Lawrence or Butler counties.

Robbins, in his third term representing the district, is Senate majority caucus secretary and vice chairman of the Military Committee. He is a member of the Community and Economic Development, Game and Fisheries, Rules and Executive Nominations, and Communications and High Technology committees.

Those who want to ride along on the five-stop tour should call Cindy Robbins at (724)588-2193.

To date, no Republicans have come forward to oppose Robbins in the GOP primary. Democrat Kyle Klaric, a Hermitage businessman who runs plants in Farrell and Crawford County, said last week he is seeking the Democratic nomination.
