LACKAWANNOCK TOWNSHIP

2 teens seriously injured when vehicles collide

Two local teens were injured seriously in a two-vehicle crash Thursday in Lackawannock Township, police said.

Nicole A. Johnson, 17, of 410 Madison St., Sharon, and Bonni Wilford, 16, of 7660 Warren Sharon Road, Brookfield, both suffered serious injuries in a minivan-sport utility vehicle accident at 4:30 p.m. on state Route 318, police said.

The SUV, driven by Ms. Wilford, was westbound on Route 318 when the minivan, driven by Ms. Johnson, either turned left into the SUV's path or backed out of a private drive, police said.

The SUV hit the minivan broadside, and both vehicles traveled west a short distance before stopping in a ditch off the north berm, where the minivan overturned, police said.

Ms. Wilford's passenger, Krista Long, of West Middlesex, also was injured, police said.

Patient conditions were unavailable this morning. The crash is under investigation, police said.

West Middlesex and Shenango Township volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene.
