Services for World Day of Prayer set
World Day of Prayer 2002 will be observed March 1 by Christians in more than 170 countries around the world. Included will be those who attend services in Grove City and Sharpsville.
Services will be at noon that day in Tower Presbyterian Church, 248 S. Broad St., Grove City; and at 1 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 603 W. Ridge Ave., Sharpsville.
Speakers will be Anne Dayton in Grove City and Mary Ann Burlbaugh in Sharpsville.
This year's celebration was written by the women of Romania. "Challenged to Reconcile" is the theme. The scripture for this worship is I Samuel 25:2-42.
In Grove City, women from various denominations will take part. Child care will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring canned goods for the Grace Food Pantry.
In Sharpsville, Mrs. Regule from Holy Cross Romanian Orthodox Church, Hermitage, will explain icons from the Romanian tradition. A collection of Bibles will be taken for the Rev. Ralph Newell's prison ministry. He requests soft-cover Bibles in the Good News or Contemporary English translations, and no New Testament-only or fine-print Bibles.
Refreshments will be served after services in both churches.
