SHARPSVILLE

Cattron-Theimeg files countersuit to claims of patent infringement

Cattron-Theimeg Inc., Sharpsville, said Friday it filed a countersuit against Canac Inc., Montreal, Canada, in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh.

The Cattron suit follows a lawsuit filed by Canac in the U.S. District Court in Norfolk, Va., on Feb. 1, which accuses Cattron of infringing Canac U.S. patents related to a remote control system for a locomotive.

The Cattron lawsuit asks the court to find that Cattron's remote control system for locomotives, including its ACCUSPEED system, does not infringe any valid claim of either Canac patent, and to find all of the claims of the Canac patents to be invalid and unenforceable. In its suit Cattron said it believes its remote control system for a locomotive, including its ACCUSPEED system, does not violate any valid claim of either Canac patent as properly interpreted.

In a news release Cattron-Theimeg said it believes it will prevail in the litigation with Canac. Cattron-Theimeg is a global leader in the development, manufacture and installation of portable radio remote control systems, RF data links and related equipment.
