Six hurt, SUV flips in freeway collision

Six Farrell residents were injured when the sport utility vehicle they were riding in was knocked on its roof and sent sliding more than 100 feet at about 4 p.m. Monday at the Shenango Valley Freeway and Buhl Farm Drive in Hermitage near Kennedy Catholic High School, Hermitage police said.

Linda Stilley, 54, of 1465 S. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, was eastbound on the freeway when she turned left on Buhl Farm Drive and crashed into the side of an SUV driven by Jarrett D. Samuels, 29, of 1149 Wallis Ave., Farrell, who was driving west on the freeway, police said.

The SUV, which was carrying five passengers, flipped on its side and rolled onto its roof, sliding about 119 feet west down the freeway, police said.

Treated at UPMC Horizon, Farrell, were: Samuels, Tracey Samuels, 29; JayKayla Samuels, 3; Juwan Samuels, 1; Davida Tarver, 20; and Jasmiene Oliver, 8, all of the Wallis Avenue address, police said.

Ms. Stilley, who did not seek medical treatment at the scene, was cited for failure to yield the right of way, police said.

Police said the 1-year-old was in a car seat and everyone in both vehicles was wearing seatbelts.

Hermitage Fire Department assisted at the scene.
