SUGAR GROVE TOWNSHIP

Motorist injured when car slides over embankment

A Salem Township woman was listed this morning in serious condition after the car she was driving slid down an embankment Sunday in Sugar Grove Township.

Cindy Beighley, 31, of 339 Stevenson Road, was admitted to UPMC Horizon, Greenville, after rescuers removed her from the car's wreckage.

Hempfield Township police said the car apparently left Leech Road near Werner Road at 3:56 a.m. Sunday and hit a tree. The car went sideways over an embankment, police said.

Hempfield Township volunteer firefighters and ambulance personnel freed Ms. Beighley, who was pinned in the car, police said.
