Woman charged with hitting daughter with belt
A charge filed against a Farrell woman who allegedly hit her 5-year-old daughter with a belt has been held for court.
Dawn M. Vitello, 26, of 939 Fruit Ave., Farrell, was charged by Southwest Mercer County Regional police with endangering welfare of children.
Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, held the charge for court at a preliminary hearing Friday.
Ms. Vitello hit her daughter at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 31 when the girl was trying to skip school, police said. The girl was trying to hide between beds when her mother hit her, causing a bruise on her right cheek, said police, who were called to the scene by Mercer County Children and Youth Services.
Ms. Vitello was released on her own recognizance.
