Hearing reset for accused semen sprayer

A pretrial in Warren Municipal court for a Brookfield man accused of spraying and throwing semen on women in and around the Eastwood Mall Complex in Trumbull County was rescheduled as investigators wait for the test results of the liquid found on the female shoppers' clothing.

Robert L. Gibson, III, 38, of 467 S. Albright McKay Road, was charged with one count of criminal mischief by Howland police stemming from an incident Nov. 21 in the Super Kmart.

This is the second time the pretrial has been rescheduled. The first time it was rescheduled was due to a water main break in front of the court building.

According to Howland police chief Steve Lamantia, a surveillance camera filmed the suspect and Gibson was recognized after his picture was circulated to area police departments, the chief said.

Gibson has also been charged in Niles and Liberty Township with multiple criminal mischief charges and a criminal trespass charge related to the same type of incidents.

According to Niles police Capt. Ken Chriswell, the fluid tested positive for semen, but the police departments involved are still awaiting test results from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation to see if the semen belongs to Gibson.

He faces pretrial hearings in the next two weeks on those charges in Girard and Niles Municipal Court. No date has been set for the rescheduled pretrial in Warren Municipal Court.

Gibson's father, Robert Gibson of North Albright McKay road was recently convicted of five counts of sexual battery and one count of corruption of a minor related to the sexual assault of his stepdaughter since she was 12.
