SALEM, WILMINGTON TOWNSHIPS

Heavy snow causes car accidents

State police reported two traffic accidents related to Wednesday's heavy snowfall.

Jessica Conover, 18, of Perrine Road, Sandy Creek Township, was treated at UPMC Horizon, Greenville, after a two-car accident at 6:15 p.m. on Greenville-Sheakleyville Road near Beatty School Road in Salem Township, police said.

Ms. Conover was a passenger in a car driven by Zane A. Arbuckle, 19, of 462 Carpenters Corners Road, Clarks Mills. Arbuckle was driving too fast for conditions and his car spun on the snow-covered road, police said. The car spun sideways and struck a car driven by Kathleen A. Flowers-Backhop, 38, of 672 Greenville Road, Salem Township, head on, police said, noting that she was not hurt.

Arbuckle was cited for speeding, police said.

At 8:30 p.m., Kenya A. Roberts of Youngstown lost control of her northbound car on state Route 18 in Wilmington Township. The car struck a brick wall, police said. Ms. Roberts was not injured, police said.
