WEST SALEM TOWNSHIP

Belt spares woman serious injuries

An 83-year-old woman suffered only minor injuries, thanks to her seat belt, when her car flipped in the air in West Salem Township, said Greenville-West Salem Township police.

Maxine P. Morrison of Kinsman, Ohio, was treated at UPMC Horizon, Greenville.

At 1 p.m. Wednesday, the 1983 Plymouth, driven by Mrs. Morrison, fell off Kinsman Road, police said. Mrs. Morrison told police she did not know why the car went off the road.

The car traveled 127 feet through a ditch and hit a culvert, which bounced the car 30 feet in the air before it landed on its wheels, police said.

The car was demolished, police said.
