A 31-year-old Sandy Creek Township woman has been charged with homicide for fatally shooting her live-in boyfriend after they argued at a bar, state police said.

Police said Kathleen Ann Robinson of 322 Pearson Road shot Robert A. Erickson Jr., 42, once in the abdomen with a rifle at 2 a.m. Sunday. Erickson died at 6:20 a.m. during surgery at UPMC Horizon, Greenville, said Mercer County Deputy Coroner Cris Loutzenhiser. He said an autopsy was performed Sunday in Erie.

Ms. Robinson and Erickson had lived together on and off for 11 years and had two children together, according to a probable cause affidavit at the Greenville office of District Justice William Fagley.

According to the affidavit:

Ms. Robinson and Erickson left their children with grandparents Saturday night before going out together at the Double Barrel Bar, along U.S. Route 19 in Crawford County.

Ms. Robinson and Erickson argued there after he allegedly asked out another woman. During the argument, Ms. Robinson told Erickson to move out of the modified mobile home they owned together.

Erickson, who was driving, left Ms. Robinson at the bar, and she got a ride home later with friends.

One friend, Judy Knauff, told police that during the ride Ms. Robinson said she would shoot Erickson if he was still there when they arrived home.

Erickson was under a blanket on a living-room couch when Ms. Robinson arrived, accompanied by Ms. Knauff, at about 2 a.m.

Ms. Robinson again told Erickson to leave, but he refused. She then said she would shoot him if he didn't leave, and Erickson responded, "I don't care."

Ms. Robinson went to her bedroom, got her Winchester rifle, loaded it and headed back to the living room.

Ms. Knauff said she tried to stop her friend, but Ms. Robinson pushed her out of the way and fired once.

She told police she "hit the victim in the leg with the gun and it went off."

Ms. Robinson was arraigned Sunday on a charge of criminal homicide and was taken to Mercer County Jail after being denied bond, according to court paperwork.
