BROOKFIELD

Halved pole leads to DUI charge, police say

A Hubbard man was charged with drunken driving after a one-car crash sheared a utility pole at 6:14 p.m. Monday on Sharon Hogue Road in Brookfield, police said.

William Senich, 50, was southbound near Custer Orangeville Road when his car went off the right side of the road and into a pole, breaking it in half, Ohio Highway Patrol said.

The car flipped onto its roof and came to rest on its side, police said.

Senich, who was treated at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System was also charged with failure to control his vehicle and failure to wear a seatbelt, police said.
