High school plans talent showcase

The annual Mercer Area High School showcase of talent is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday in the high school auditorium.

Jessica Moose will sing "Bring on the Rain;" Becky Lopuh, "On My Own;" Jenny Parker, "This is the Moment;" Brittany Baker, singing and playing piano on "Every Season."

Pamela and Brittany Lange; Rachel Learned and Emma Waterloo will dance; Jessica Sankey and Katie Campbell will tap dance.

Ashley Mace will sing "Ave Maria" accompanied by Katie Schultz on piano; Adrienne Grundy will sing "Nothing" accopanied by Tina Greig on piano; Illana White, Elliot Livenspire, Michael Peterson and Woody Dixon will perform "Barely Breathing."

Josh Weaver, Elliot Livenspire and Mike Peterson will perform their original "Can't You See" as a band called Saterday; Jessica Sankey will play "Capriccio Espagnol" on piano.

Sean Kelly, Chris Weber and Stephen Morimando will demonstrate taekwondo; and Travis Bennington, Colin Bennington, Mike Rodemoyer and Jarrod Carter will play their original work "Every Step of the Way" as Armed Battery.

Chris Blaze, Chris Bochy, Kassy Brown, Amy Beth Peterson, Jessica Speer and Shelly Struther will judge their classmates.

Andrew Hazi and Eric Mount will be hosts; Jodi Royer and Shelley Struthers, ushers; Amy Beth Peterson, Jenny Parker, Callie Creasy and Jessica Speer, hospitality committee; Chris Blaze and Chris Bochy, house managers.

Katie Allen, Jarrod Carter, Callie Creasy and Brent McEwen are in charge of tickets; Chris Bochy and Autumn Whenry, programs; Chris Blaze and Jarrod Carter, stage managers.

The school's humanities class is sponsoring the event. Tickets are $4 at the door. Funds will benefit the class' field trip to Pittsburgh, the humanities class banquet in May and a charity of the class' choosing.

Last year, $300 each was given to AW/ARE, Mercer County's rape-crisis and domestic violence agency; and to Loaves and Fishes. The year before, $650 was given to several charities.
