Mary R. Barone
WE retiree was Notre Dame, Catholic Daughters member

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday for Mary R. Barone, 233 S. Kerrwood Drive, Hermitage. She passed away at 3 a.m. Wednesday (3-13-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 87.

Mrs. Barone was born Nov. 28, 1914, in Chicago, a daughter of Francisco and Madaline Tecchia Palumbo.

She was a 1932 alumna of Sharon High School.

Mrs. Barone retired in 1976 after 34 years from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where she was a coil winder and a production clerk in the A20 Building of the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

She was an active member of Church of Notre Dame in Hermitage and served as a past officer for Catholic Daughters of the Americas Sharon Court 507.

Mrs. Barone also belonged to Hermitage Woman's Club and its Garden Club; Westinghouse Retirees Association; and AARP in Hermitage, a retired person's organization.

Her husband, John Barone, whom she married June 25, 1955, died Aug. 9, 1994.

Mrs. Barone was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are: six nephews, Francis M. Palumbo, Fort Myers, Fla.; Michael J. Palumbo, Sacramento, Calif.; John C. Palumbo, Cape Coral, Fla.; Patrick L. Palumbo, Hershey, Pa.; Thomas J. Palumbo Alexandria, Va.; and Richard A. Palumbo, Cortland; one niece, Marguerite (Palumbo) Hassel, Fort Myers; eight great-nieces; five great-nephews; seven great-great-nieces and -nephews; and dear friends Frank and Carole Mancuso; and Mark and Susan Davis and their family, all Hermitage.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Michael, Anthony and Patsy Palumbo.

Helen Rose Earnhart

Ex-Masury woman retired as Valley View pharmacist

Helen Rose Earnhart of 2250 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, formerly of Masury, died at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday (3-13-02) in John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 81.

Mrs. Earnhart was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Hubbard, a daughter of Stephen A. and Dorothy Maczieowski Klucher.

An alumna of Hubbard High School Class of 1938, she furthered her education by graduating in 1942 from Ohio State University College of Pharmacy in Columbus.

She married Charles Lee Earnhart on July 30, 1945.

Mrs. Earnhart was first employed as a pharmacist at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown. For the next 28 years, she and her late husband, Charles, who died June 8, 1974, owned and operated the Masury pharmacy. Mrs. Earnhart later retired in 1986 as a pharmacist for the former Valley View Department Store in Brookfield.

She was a former member of St. Bernadette Church in Masury.

In her spare time, Mrs. Earnhart enjoyed reading, camping and traveling.

Survivors include: six children, Carole Burgess, Sheridan, Wyo.; Lee Earnhart, Mercer; Jim Earnhart, Hartford; Catherine Bean, Alexandria, Va.; Audrey Earnhart, Masury; and Mary Bible, Brookfield; and 13 grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Earnhart was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John L. Klucher and an infant; and one sister, Mary C. Sperko.

George 'Porky' Lazor

Honored vet was WE retiree, plaza maintenance supervisor

A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Friday for George "Porky" Lazor, 420 N. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage. He passed away peacefully at 10:30 p.m. Monday (3-11-02) in his residence. He was 74.

Mr. Lazor was born July 26, 1927, in Sharon, a son of Andrew and Catherine Parimuha Lazor.

He attended Sharon schools and retired in the early 1980s as a pipefitter from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he worked for 35 years. Mr. Lazor was also the maintenance supervisor for Ivor J. Lee at the Hermitage Square Shopping Center for a number of years.

He owned and operated the former Carriage Shop in the shopping center for more than 10 years.

Mr. Lazor belonged to St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hermitage; the Greek Catholic Union of the USA; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166 in Hermitage; and was a former member of Loyal Order of the Moose.

The decorated war veteran was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and received the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge and the National Defense Service Medal.

An outdoorsman, Mr. Lazor enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed gardening, spending many hours planting and maintaining his garden, as well as canning. He was also known for his beautiful orchids.

Surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Debbie) Buck, Arlington, Texas; one son, Gary Lazor and his wife April, Jupiter, Fla.; two sisters, Anne Moro, Sharon; and Mrs. William (Mary Jane) Reffner, South Pymatuning Township; and one brother, John Lazor and his wife Ethel, Hermitage.

Mr. Lazor was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Andrew Lazor; and one sister, Helen Slovesko.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Cemetery Fund in care of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, 2230 Highland Road, Hermitage 16148.

He will be buried with full military honors by the Honor Guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166 in Hermitage.

Alice Rebecca Uber

Mercer grad was former nurse, had relatives here

Alice Rebecca Uber, West Salem Township, formerly of Michigan and California, died at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2002, in St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township. She was 82.

Miss Uber was born May 21, 1919, in Wheatfield, Ind., to Harry Dickson Uber and Anna Scott Bagnall Uber.

A graduate of Mercer High School and Jameson School of Nursing in New Castle, she was a former nurse in Michigan and in California.

Miss Uber was a member of First Congregational Church in Berkeley, Calif.

She loved cats.

Surviving are: one sister, Martha Orr, Hermitage; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Uber, Mercer; three nieces, Lynda Knauff, Union City; Rebecca Hover, Erie; and Kathryn Venema, Tiffin, Ohio; and three nephews, Scott Uber, Mercer; Donald Uber, Malvern, Pa.; and James Orr, Hermitage.

Miss Uber was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Douglas Uber; and one sister, Frances Uber.
