Frontiers Club sets event

gThe Mercer County Frontiers Club will host its annual awards luncheon at noon Saturday in The Rosemont banquet and conference center in Sharon.

Guest speaker will be Robert Martin, readjustment counseling therapist for the Department of Veterans Administration in Erie.

A 1966 alumnus of Sharon High School, Martin was a basketball standout and earned a bachelor's in psychology in 1970 from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and a master's in counselor education and student personnel services in 1985 from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

Martin is a son of Louise Martin of Farrell and the late Robert Martin Sr.

Donald Miller, Farrell, and David Torrence, Hermitage, will be 2002 Community Service Award recipients. Scholarship Recognition Awards will be given to Mercer County and Brookfield African Americans who recently completed programs of higher education.

The club will also give scholarships to African American high school graduates.

Tickets are available from members or from Dr. Theodore Yarboro.
