Anna May Hill Former local homemaker was ex-Sacred Heart member WESTLAKE, Ohio -- Anna May Hill of 4000 Crocker Road, Westlake, formerly of Brookfield, died Tuesday (3-19-02) in Corinthian Nursing Home, Westlake. She was 92. Mrs. Hill was born Jan. 18, 1910, in Sharon, a daughter of Patrick and Julia Fitzgerald O'Hara. She was a homemaker and a former member of Church of the Sacred Heart in Sharon. Her husband, William Hill, whom she married in 1931, died in 1978. Survivors include: three nephews, one grandchild, three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, William and Robert Hill; and four brothers, Hugh, James, John and Thomas O'Hara; and one sister, Julia Merat.
HILL Donna Lynn Showman Hurl Goodwill store manager was member of Faith Assembly Donna Lynn Showman Hurl, Forrest Brooke Estates, 7266 W. Market St., Lot 89, Lackawannock Township, died unexpectedly at 8:55 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2002, in her home. She was 32. Mrs. Hurl was born Feb. 28, 1968, in Akron to Donald Lee Showman and Linda Leffel Showman. A graduate of the Class of 1986 at Colonial High School in Orlando, Fla., she was a manager for the Goodwill store in Hermitage. Mrs. Hurl was a member of Faith Assembly of God in Brookfield. Surviving are: a fiance, Russell Gregory, Mercer; a son, Dennis Andrew Hurl, Mercer; her parents; her paternal grandfather, Clarence Showman; a brother, Daniel Lynn Showman; and a nephew, Donald Lee Showman III, all Sharon. Mrs. Hurl was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Lee Showman II; her paternal grandmother; and her maternal grandparents.
HURL Mary E. Smith Mary E. Smith, 402 Indiana Ave., Farrell, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (3-19-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 87. Obituary information was incomplete.
SMITH George E. Weber SRU retiree, '52 GCHS grad, was crafter for Center church George E. Weber, 368 Oregon Road, Springfield Township, died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2002, of a heart attack in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, following a one-week illness. He was 67. Mr. Weber was born June 5, 1934, in Grove City to Edward P. and Grace E. Nelson Weber. A 1952 graduate of Grove City High School, he retired in 1995 after 25 years as a materials clerk for Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Weber enjoyed floral design as a hobby and, as a member of Center Presbyterian Church in Pine Township, he crafted decorations at the church. He also belonged to Volant Lions Club and served in the U.S. Army. His wife, the former Margaret "Peggy" L. Elliott, whom he married Nov. 17, 1961, survives at home. Mr. Weber was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to Center Presbyterian Church, 333 Center Church Road, Grove City 16127.
WEBER Retired Lt. Col. Charles Edward McGilvray Air Force officer born in WM served during 3 wars BAY PINES, Fla. -- Retired Lt. Col. Charles Edward McGilvray, 4326 Marcott Circle, Sarasota, Fla. 34233, died Sunday afternoon, March 17, 2002, in Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was 85. Born Feb. 4, 1917, in West Middlesex, Mr. McGilvray was a son of Harry C. and Gertrude Bateman McGilvray. After enlisting in the Air Force during World War II and attending officer's candidate school, he was commissioned a second lieutenant. Lt. Col. McGilvray also served in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts as a flying officer with special duties in electronic warfare; was a flight test officer for airborne weapons systems; and a combat crew commander at a Titan II missile base in Little Rock, Ark. He retired from Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio. He and his wife of 60 years, the former Annabelle E. Stock of Sharpsville, whom he married July 19, 1941, in Olathe, Kansas, retired to Florida. She survives along with: one daughter, Pat, wife of Lee Chapin, Sarasota, Fla.; and Linville Ridge, N.C.; and one granddaughter, Kelly, wife of Dean Dancer; and two great-grandsons, Michael and Mason Dancer, all Sarasota. Also surviving are: two sisters, Jean, wife of Edward Hohman, Hermitage; and Margery, wife of Pat Buzzeo, Waldorf, Md.; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives in the Shenango Valley area. Lt. Col. McGilvray was preceded in death by four sisters, Alberta Ehrhart, Edna Staudenmayer, Frances McCormick and Jackie Tidmarsh. Memorial contributions may be sent to Sharon Regional Health System's Hospice Home Care, 490 N. Kerrwood Drive, Suite 204, Hermitage 16148. Always an inspiration to his family, he will be sadly missed and always loved. Graveside services and interment will be held at a later date in Arlington (Va.) National Cemetery.
