Motor vehicle accidents blamed on snowstorm

State police at Mercer reported several weather-related wrecks on Monday.

Police said Erika L. Gaburri, 22, of 902 Pulaski-Mercer Road, East Lackawannock Township, lost control of her vehicle at 6:56 a.m. on ice-covered state Route 318 in Lackawannock Township. The car slid off the road, hitting mailboxes and a utility pole, police said.

Ms. Gaburri was treated at the hospital at Sharon Regional Health System.

In another incident, Terry E. Neiswonger, 47, of 466 Fairview Road, Fairview Township, lost control of his vehicle at 10:34 a.m. on state Route 258 in Springfield Township. His car slid off the road, hit an embankment and rolled, police said.

A passenger, Kelly S. Neiswonger, 21, same address, was treated at United Community Hospital, Pine Township, police said.

At 11 a.m., Sabina Ann Holber, 20, Carmel, Calif., was traveling east on Interstate 80 in Lackawannock Township when she attempted to pass another vehicle and lost control of her car, police said.

Ms. Holber's car was hit by a tractor-trailer driven by David Thomas Kutscher, 46, of Coal Valley, Ill.; the impact caused her car to slide into the median, police said. Both drivers were charged with traffic violations, police said.
