HERMITAGE

Changes afoot at WPIC

Saying WPIC "needed a new skill set,'' two employees at the radio station have been promoted to replace other workers who were let go, said Bob Roof, market manager for the station in Hermitage.

Steve Charles, formerly production and creative director, is the new program director. He replaces Dave Hanahan. Also, Bob Greenburg has been tapped as the new sports director; he returns to the post after serving as a sales executive.

Roof said part-time workers were replaced at the station but couldn't immediately recall their names. Hanahan, the morning show host, and Ben Roberts, a sports announcer, have not been on the air during their regular time slots since Monday.

WPIC is owned by Atlanta-based Cumulus Media Corp., a publicly-held company which owns 200 radio stations in the nation.
