A Delaware Township man was charged by Hermitage and Sharon police Tuesday for incidents involving a gun, police said.

Gregory R. Knauf, 19, of 26 Patricia Drive, was charged Tuesday by Hermitage police with one count each of aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, possessing a weapon on school property, possessing a prohibited weapon and making terroristic threats, five counts of simple assault and three counts of reckless endangerment, police said.

The Hermitage arrest stems from two alleged incidents in March.

According to an affidavit:

On the night of March 29, Joshua Doddato, 19; Jared Narlee, 19; and Frank Costa, 19, were in the parking lot of Kennedy Catholic High School when Knauf arrived and put a cocked pistol to Doddato's head.

Knauf asked Doddato why he was there and what he was doing. Doddato grabbed the gun and Knauf pulled out a folding knife and held it to Doddato's neck. Doddato released the gun and grabbed the knife handle, pulling the knife away from his throat. Doddato was cut on the left hand.

Doddato said his former girlfriend, Sarah McBride, lives across the street from the school and might be seeing Knauf.

Doddato was treated at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after the incident.

Another incident occurred the night of March 23 when Doddato was once again in the parking lot of the school with his brother, Benjamin, waiting for friends, police said.

According to police:

Knauf drove up and got out of his car with the same gun at his side.

Knauf opened Doddato's car door and ordered Benjamin Doddato out. Joshua Doddato told Knauf to get away from his brother, and Knauf showed him a clip with bullets in it.

Knauf said he was going to put some bullets in Gary Langer's head. Knauf put away the gun when some of Doddato's friends drove up, but got out a pair of brass knuckles.

Langer, 19, drove up and Knauf accused him of stalking Langer's ex-girlfriend, Julie Taylor.

Dan Kilgore, a friend of Knauf's, took the gun from Knauf and put it in Kilgore's car. Knauf warned Langer to stop following Ms. McBride and Ms. Taylor.

Sharon police arrested Knauf at 2:14 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for harassment and stalking, simple assault and disorderly conduct.

The warrant stems from a Feb. 17 incident that began in Hermitage and ended in Sharon in which Knauf was in a vehicle chasing a car on the Shenango Valley Freeway, police said.

When Knauf and the other driver got to a traffic light at Connelly Boulevard and Sharpsville Avenue in Sharon, the other driver told police he looked over and Knauf was holding a handgun, police said.

The driver told police he ran a red light to get away and went straight to the police station.

According to affidavit, Langer was the man Knauf was chasing.

Knauf was arraigned before District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, and was released on $10,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is set for 11:30 a.m. April 10.

Knauf also was arraigned before District Justice James E. McMahon, Sharon, and released on $5,000 unsecured bond. That preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. April 11.
