FARRELL, FRANKLIN
Alleged rape case could be dropped
A preliminary hearing for a man charged with kidnapping a woman in Franklin and raping her in Farrell was continued for the third time Wednesday and likely never will be held.
The hearing for Anderson L. Stoutmire, 35, was continued because the alleged victim did not show up.
Stoutmire, formerly of 817 Wallis Ave., Farrell, was charged by Franklin police with rape, kidnapping, carjacking, simple assault and unlawful restraint.
A hearing has been set for 1:30 p.m. April 25 to discuss a withdrawal of the charges, according to the Venango County Clerk of Courts office.
According to police, Stoutmire was a passenger in the woman's car Feb. 12 when he hit her in the face and pulled her hair. He took control of the car and drove the woman to Farrell, where he raped her at an undisclosed location, police said.
Stoutmire, who was arrested Feb. 14 in Farrell, remains in Venango County Jail after failing to post $50,000 bond.
Stoutmire has already pleaded guilty to giving a false name, address and date of birth to police who responded to a 911 hang-up call at a Franklin convenience store several hours after the alleged kidnapping and rape.
Stoutmire was sentenced to 3 to 12 months in jail and fined $150 and costs.
