Gary L. Walter Truck driver for GC company lived in Wolf Creek Twp. Gary L. Walter, 338 E. Gilmore Road, Wolf Creek Township, died at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a two-week illness. He was 50. Mr. Walter was born July 18, 1951, in Grove City to Clinton Jefferson Walter and Deloris Jean Bowers. He was a truck driver for MTI Trucking Co. of Grove City. Mr. Walter was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed his family and friends. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Philip (Cheryl) Stemmerich, Concord, Ohio; and Mrs. Jerry (Teresa) Burdett, New Castle; a sister, Mrs. Patrick (Doris Ellen) Bartolone, Jackson Center; a brother, Joseph C. Walter, Mercer; and four grandchildren. Mr. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Deloris H. Forrester.
WALTER Joseph Dudzenski Hermitage business retiree was decorated WWII veteran A funeral service will be held Saturday for Joseph Dudzenski of 637 Sherman Ave. in Sharon. He passed away at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday (4-2-02) in UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh after a long illness. He was 78. Mr. Dudzenski was born March 20, 1924, in Rose Valley, Ohio, a son of Frank and Louise Kolvaleski Dudzenski. After graduating from high school in 1942, Joseph joined the U.S. Army. He was a decorated soldier, receiving a Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with one Bronze Star, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Distinguished Unit Citation, all while serving with the 25th Infantry Division. Mr. Dudzenski belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1338, Sharon; and Post 5286, Farrell. He retired in 1985 after more than 35 years with Thomas Medals in Hermitage, where he worked as a foreman. Mr. Dudzenski belonged to St. John's Episcopal Church in Sharon. An outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed gardening. His wife, the former Ida Perna, whom he married Aug. 4, 1951, survives at home. Mr. Dudzenski also leaves: two sons, Richard A. Dudzenski and his wife Paula J., Hartford; and John M. Dudzenski and his wife Beverly, North Carolina; one daughter, Mrs. John (Patricia F. Prezioso) Brownlee, West Middlesex; one brother, Edward Dudzenski and his wife Patricia, Farrell; seven grandchildren, Janine Odell; Jonelle Krebs; Dena, Richard and Rachel Dudzenski; and Heather and Lenny Lathrop; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew Odell and Jenna Krebs. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bernard F. Dudzenski.
DUDZENSKI Betty M. Rhoades Hermitage woman worked at Loblaws, Farrell hospital A funeral service will be held Friday for Betty M. Rhoades, 2180 Ridgelawn Drive, Hermitage. She died of natural causes at 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in St. Joseph Health Center, Warren, Ohio, after an extended illness. She was 77. Mrs. Rhoades was born July 11, 1924, in Sharpsville to George and Mary Greggs Achenbach. A graduate of Sharpsville High School, she was head cashier at the former Loblaws store in Sharon, where she worked for 20 years. Mrs. Rhoades also worked for 10 years in the office of what is now UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was a member of East Side Church (Baptist-Disciples of Christ) in Sharon. Mrs. Rhoades also belonged to Degree of Honor Society. She loved camping. Her husband, Frederick O. Rhoades, whom she married April 16, 1946, died Oct. 5, 1994. Surviving are: two sons, Frederick O. Rhoades Jr., Sharpsville; and Dennis E. Rhoades, Hermitage; two sisters, Mrs. Edwin (Mary Jane) Fair, Sharpsville; and Mrs. Charles (Mabel) Williams, Cortland; a brother, Jim Achenbach and his wife Gert, Hermitage; five grandchildren, Karry Turner, Kellie Sickafus, Dennis E. Rhoades Jr., Joshua D. Rhoades and Zachary L. Rhoades; and four great-grandchildren, Jessica Sickafus, Julianna Sickafus, Lucas Rhoades and Jacob Turner. Besides her husband, Mrs. Rhoades was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Shirley Murray; and three brothers, George, William and Kenneth Achenbach.
RHOADES M. Jane Williamson East Main church member retired as GC schools nurse M. Jane Williamson, Grove Manor, Grove City, died at 8:08 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2002, in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, after a brief illness. She was 83. Mrs. Williamson was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Butler to Harry Piper and Geraldine Kathryn Walter. An alumna of the former Harrisville High School Class of 1936, she graduated from West Penn Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh in 1939 and from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Williamson retired as a nurse from Grove City Area School District. She was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church in Grove City and attended Church of the Episcopal Epiphany, Pine Township. Her husband, Robert P. Williamson, whom she married June 30, 1940, died April 3, 1986. Surviving are: two daughters, Dr. Wanda Mays, wife of David, Newville, Pa.; and Barbara Nichelson, Grove City; two brothers, Richard Walter, Edgewater, Fla.; and Shirl Walter, Little Rock, Ark.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Maxine Walter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Hemophilia Foundation, Western Pennsylvania Chapter, 532 S. Aiken Ave., Suite 102, Pittsburgh 15232.
WILLIAMSON Dolores McKendry Dolores McKendry, 390 Smith Ave., Sharon, died at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday (4-3-02) in the intensive care unit of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 75. Obituary information was incomplete.
McKENDRY Andrew I. McShaw Andrew I. McShaw, 8466 Summit Road, Transfer, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday (4-3-02) in his home. He was 82. Obituary information was incomplete.
