Former royal correspondent is town hall headliner

A former royal family correspondent will be the final guest lecturer in the Trumbull Town Hall Celebrity Series 2001-2002.

Richard Arbiter, who served from 1980 to 1988 as court correspondent to Buckingham Palace, will speak at 10:30 a.m. April 10 in W.D. Packard Music Hall in Warren.

He coordinated the broadcast the 1981 wedding of the Prince of Wales to the late Lady Diana Spencer; and the 1986 marriage of the Duke of York to Sarah Ferguson. Arbiter later managed the media arrangements for Diana's funeral.

He joined the royal household in 1988 as one of the queen's press secretaries. Arbiter managed ceremonial occasions and planning of media requirements for royal funerals and for major events in Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. Single lecture tickets are $25. Group and student tickets also are available.

A luncheon and fashion show is set for noon in Avalon Inn and Resort, Howland. Tickets are $12, and are available only to those attending the lecture. Those who purchase 2002-2003 series tickets on or before April 10 are entitled to receive a free ticket to Arbiter's lecture. The ticket will be available on the morning of April 10 at the door.

The 2002-2003 series will feature Vicki Lawrence, entertainer, on Oct. 16; Carolyn Andrews, international volunteer, Nov. 13; Dr. Elliot Engel, scholar and performer, March 5; and Daniel Elias, host of "Antiques Roadshow," April 9. Events are all 10:30 a.m. in Packard Music Hall.
