SHARPSVILLE

Council sets meeting on tax abatement plan

Sharpsville council has set a special meeting for 7 p.m. April 25 to discuss implementing a tax abatement program in the borough.

Council Vice President Gary "Gus" Grandy supported the tax abatement program during his campaign for council last year and has been pushing for it since he was elected.

The program would allow residential and commercial business owners who make improvements to their properties to be eligible for a five- to 10-year tax abatement.

Council plans to invite state Sen. Robert D. "Bob" Robbins, Salem Township R-50, and state Rep. Michael C. Gruitza, Hermitage D-7, to the meeting to discuss the program.
