Numbers were incorrect in story about renovations

The Herald incorrectly reported numbers in a story Saturday about how much money has been spent and is needed for renovations to Sharon schools.

About $2 million in renovations -- not $700,000 -- are left at the middle/high school, and school directors are considering borrowing an additional $8 million to renovate Case Avenue Elementary. The board has not decided whether to renovate Case.

The board already borrowed $28 million to renovate the middle/high school and C.M. Musser and West Hill elementaries. The board needs to raise taxes 1.7 mills a year for three years to generate enough revenue to cover bond payments for the next 20 years.

In the same story, The Herald also incorrectly reported millage numbers. Under the new tax-assessment ratio, a mill of property tax generates $95,200 for the district, Business Manager James Wolf said. Under the old ratio, a mill generated about $31,700.
