A Brookfield man was found guilty of spraying semen on female shoppers for the third time Thursday.
Robert L. Gibson, III, 38, of 467 S. Albright McKay Road, pleaded no contest in Girard Municipal Court to a criminal mischief charge stemming from the July 9 incident in a grocery store on Belmont Avenue in Liberty Township and was found guilty by a judge.
Gibson was given a 60-day jail sentence, which was suspended, and a $500 fine, with $250 suspended. He was also put on a 2-year reporting probation, according to a court official.
Gibson has been in Trumbull County Jail since April 15 when a Warren municipal judge ordered him there following his conviction on similar charges, according to Niles police and a jail official.
Gibson is serving 60 days for his conviction in Niles Municipal Court on the same charges and is serving 30 days concurrently from his conviction in Warren Municipal Court. Authorities say Gibson sprayed semen on shoppers in and surrounding the Eastwood Mall complex in Trumbull County.
Liberty Township Det. Don Mills has said a woman shopper told police July 9 that she felt liquid sprayed on her back and legs.
Test results of the semen sample from that and other incidents identifying the fluid as Gibson's, police said.
She was worried about the contents of the liquid because she had open sores from poison oak on her back and legs, the detective said. Tests indicated the semen was disease-free, police said.
Gibson was identified as a suspect from video surveillance cameras in stores where he allegedly tossed the substance.
