EAST LACKAWANNOCK TOWNSHIP

Countrysidenames resident of month

Evelyn Smith has been named Countryside Convalescent Home's April resident of the month.

Mrs. Smith has lived at the East Lackawannock Township nursing home for more than six years -- longer than any other Countryside resident. She arrived at the home's skilled nursing unit Oct. 18, 1995, transferred to the personal care unit after five months and now lives in a two-room assisted living suite with roommate and close friend, Betty Zoccola.

A former resident of Forrest Brooke Mobile Home Park in Lackawannock Township, Mrs. Smith has two daughters and a son. Older daughter Patsy lives in Hermitage; daughter Pauline, in Daytona, Fla.; and son William in Jamestown. She also has seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker, but often accepted part-time jobs to supplement the family income. She enjoys reading, sewing, crocheting and cooking. She also enjoys working crossword puzzles and attending social activities at Countryside.
