Orthodox church sets Easter week services

The Orthodox Church is preparing its May 5 observance of Easter. Following are Holy Week and Resurrection Services to be celebrated by St. John's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, 725 Cedar Ave.:

  • 7 p.m. Wednesday -- Holy Unction Service in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1007 Washington Ave., Farrell.

  • 7 p.m. Thursday -- St. Basil's Vesperal Liturgy for Holy Thursday.

  • 7 p.m. Friday -- Great Vespers with Procession of Holy Shroud for Good Friday.

  • 9 a.m. May 4 -- St. Basil's Vesperal Liturgy for Holy Saturday.

  • 7 p.m. May 4 -- Resurrection Matin followed by Blessing of Pascal Foods and Baskets, for Holy Saturday.

  • 10 a.m. May 5 -- Resurrection Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom and Festival of Anointing with Holy Oil for Easter Sunday.
