Pavilions, boat passes available at park office
The summer recreation season is getting under way at Shenango Lake.
A pavilion is now available for use in the Clark Recreation Area. This pavilion is adjacent to restrooms and is accessible for people with disabilities.
Other pavilions are available, including five within the Mahaney Recreation Area and one with the Shenango Recreation Area.
All pavilions may be reserved for a fee of $40. For reservations, call the park office at (724) 962-7746.
Annual launching passes are available between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Resource Manager's office, 2242 Kelly Road, Hermitage. The fee is $25. A driver's license and the registration card of two vehicles are needed to buy a pass.
Boaters are urged to purchase their passes before the recreation season begins. Pavilion rentals are available at the same office.
The Shenango Campground will open for the season on May 10. Reservations for selected campsites can be made by calling (877) 444-6777, or on the Internet at www.reserveusa.com. Campers should be prepared to pay for their entire stay when making a reservation. Visa, AMEX, Mastercard and Discover cards are accepted. Reservations for locations operated by the USDA Forest Service can also be made by calling the same number.
