First nursing class to complete new curriculum graduates
The first class of students to complete the new 16-month curriculum at Sharon Regional Health System's School of Nursing graduated.
Twenty-one students graduated Friday at a ceremony at Sharon High School, according to a news release from the school.
Pinky Carrido, Greenville, earned the Nursing Proficiency Award which the faculty presents to the student who best exemplifies attributes needed to be a competent and caring clinical practitioner, the release said. After graduating from a high school in the Philippines, Ms. Carrido took her pre-requisite classes at Penn State University and Thiel College.
Other local graduates were: Jennifer Batley, New Wilmington; Melissa Crawford, Greenville; Shawna DeCarmen, Transfer; Vince Gibson, Masury; Beth Ann Gregory, Mercer; Rebecca Jovenall, Pulaski; Lona Moore, Georgianna Sumner, Christopher Williams and Angela Zeronas, all Sharon; Michele Swartz and Andrea Peters-Waterman, both Sharpsville; Lisa Truchan, West Middlesex; and Wendy Woods, Sandy Lake.
The graduation address was given by Benita Fisher, a registered nurse and former member of the school's faculty, who is now the director of staff development at Boardman Care Center in Boardman, Ohio. Diplomas were presented by Harold Rosenblum, former chairman of the SRHS's board of directors.
