GREENVILLE

Siblings are snared in single stop

A brother and sister who were driving separate cars were charged with drunken driving in one traffic stop this morning, Greenville-West Salem Township police said.

Police said they pulled over a car driven by William Burns, 25, of 27 Elm St., Greenville, at 2:30 a.m. for allegedly driving erratically on Columbia Avenue. His sister Patricia A. Burns, 28, of the same address, pulled over in front of her brother's car.

Police said Ms. Burns got out of her car after her brother allegedly failed his field sobriety tests. After watching her walk toward the arresting policeman, a second policeman asked Ms. Burns to perform sobriety tests as well, police said.

Both were taken to UPMC Horizon, Greenville, for blood alcohol tests, police said. They both had a blood alcohol level of 0.27, police said, more than twice the legal limit of 0.1.
